Welcome to the home of RASLUPCA!
That's a big unpronounceable acronym for "Recognizing American Sign Language Letters Using Principal Component Analysis."  Whew!  This is an (almost) open source project that attempts to apply popular PCA research methods from the late 80s to recognizing images of sign language letters.  The project was started by Art Geigel in 2004 who was a senior undergrad at Hiram College in Hiram, Ohio.  The project was a required component to a Computer Vision class taught by Ellen Walker.  This site contains information covering everything from what PCA is, to an actual implementationSource code and an accompanying journalistic paper are available for download.
